LoveLetter is built around something private: the words you share with the person you love. We treat that information with care. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.
The short version. We collect only what's needed to run the daily-question ritual between you and your partner. We don't sell your personal information, and we don't use your answers to your partner for advertising. Your answers are visible to you and your partner — not to the public.
1. Who we are
LoveLetter ("LoveLetter," "we," "us," or "our") is operated by Branched Studios LLC. This policy applies to the LoveLetter mobile apps, this website at getloveletter.app, and related services (together, the "Service"). If you have questions, contact us at help@getloveletter.app.
2. Information we collect
Information you provide
- Account details — the name (or nickname) you enter, your partner's name, and, if you create an account, your email address or sign-in identifier.
- Your content — your answers to daily questions, notes you write to your partner, and anything else you choose to add. Your answers and notes are shared with your linked partner.
- Pairing information — the invite link or code used to connect you and your partner.
- Preferences — settings such as reminder times and time zone.
- Support messages — anything you send us by email.
Information collected automatically
- Device & app data — device type, operating system, app version, language, and general region.
- Usage data — how you interact with the app (for example, that a question was answered or a streak continued), used to operate and improve the Service.
- Diagnostics — crash and performance logs.
- Push tokens — an identifier used to deliver the notifications you've enabled.
Information from others
- App stores — when you subscribe to LoveLetter Plus, Apple or Google processes your payment and tells us your subscription status. We do not receive your full card details.
- Your partner — your partner's answers and notes become visible to you as part of the shared ritual.
3. How we use information
- To provide the core experience — delivering daily questions, syncing answers between partners, streaks, widgets, and notes.
- To send the reminders and notifications you've turned on.
- To manage subscriptions and process LoveLetter Plus through the app stores.
- To keep the Service secure, prevent abuse, and troubleshoot problems.
- To understand which features are used so we can improve the app.
- To respond to your support requests.
- To comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use the content you share with your partner to target advertising.
4. How information is shared
- With your partner. The whole point of LoveLetter is sharing — your answers and notes are visible to your linked partner.
- Service providers. We use trusted vendors for hosting, cloud storage, analytics, crash reporting, and push notifications. They may process data only on our behalf and under contract.
- App stores & payment processors. Apple and Google handle billing for subscriptions.
- Legal reasons. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users or the Service.
- Business transfers. If LoveLetter is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
5. Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. Your answers and shared history remain available so you and your partner can revisit them. When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we must retain it for legal, security, or fraud-prevention reasons. Note that content already shared with your partner may remain visible in their account.
6. Your choices and rights
- Access & update. You can view and edit your profile details in the app.
- Delete. You can delete your account from within the app, or by emailing us at help@getloveletter.app.
- Notifications. You can turn reminders and push notifications on or off in the app or your device settings.
- Regional rights. Depending on where you live (for example, the EEA/UK under GDPR, or California under the CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, port, or restrict use of your personal information, and to object to certain processing. You also have the right not to receive discriminatory treatment for exercising these rights. To make a request, email contact@getloveletter.app; we may need to verify your identity first.
7. Security
We use technical and organizational measures — including encryption in transit and access controls — to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to safeguard your data and to respond promptly if an issue arises.
8. Children's privacy
LoveLetter is intended for adults in romantic relationships and is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we'll delete it.
9. International transfers
We may process and store information in countries other than where you live, including the United States. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers of personal information.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we'll update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Your continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised policy.
